You can't lose for the price...
I'm an independent filmmaker and wanted to play around with wireless without spending a fortune. I have to say, I'm very impressed with the quality of sound from this little bugger. I can't say how it compares to the $500+ rigs because I won't pay that much if I don't have to. But this rig does the job. I hooked the receiver up to my camera's mic input port (using a mini-plug step-down adapter -- the cord uses the larger size) and it'll send a signal through a wall with no distortion. One thing: you have to plug in the receiver to an outlet, so if you want to do dolly shots or hand held camera moves, it could be a little tricky. But since it runs on DC, I'm looking into rigging it up to a battery pack so I can be more mobile. The microphone is super sensitive, and the little foam cap needs to be held on with a rubber band if you plan to hide it beneath an actor's clothing. Other than that, this is a solid unit at a great price. I'd definitely buy another product from Gemini.
