Little things mean a lot to bicyclists5
Okay, it doesn't use batteries, it doesn't light up, and it doesn't cost a lot. But this headset/boom mic is an essential accessory for the TalkAbouts for this simple reason: TalkAbouts have voice-operated control (VOX) when used with a plugin headset/mic. We have also evaluated the earbud/mic combo for bike riders and found it almost unworkable (it picks up road noise and, to me, the earbud causes excruciating pain after a day of use). The headset is a much better solution. The band actually fits OVER a safety helmet, and the closed-foam-cell rubber pad grips the plastic shell securely. The boom mic rejects most road noise, and soon becomes forgotten in the course of routine use. (It quickly comes back to the foreground when I try to sip from my water bottle!) If you purchase one of the TalkAbouts, consider this as your second accessory purchase -- your first should be a carrying holster or case. Now, if Motorola would only agree on a partnership with JABRA Technologies to produce a JABRA Earset for the TalkAbouts, my happiness would be complete ...

Limited3
The headset is useful and seems a good deal compared to the price of the earbud with microphone, but the bulkiness somewhat defeats the purpose of the compact radio. The highest sensitivity setting on the VOX is too low for quiet environments; it's better to use the PTT mode at those times. The PTT works better either way, because there's a slight delay before the VOX circuitry kicks in and begins transmitting. Generally the VOX is handiest in those situations where it's really necessary; i.e. no hands available to hit the button. Note also that if the transmit button is accidentally depressed, it reverts to PTT mode and the radio needs to be powered off and on again to reset to VOX mode. The earbud without microphone is the most cost effective way to use the radio; it allows for private conversation and allows the monitoring of conversations without holding the radio up to the ear, while giving best audio quality by using the built in microphone. Either earbud can be considered a necessity, while the headset is for more limited use applications.

A Good Accessory To Have3
Although this is a good accessory to have i wouldn't recommend it over the Ear Bud/Mic for skiing, especially if you wish to conceal it. I used one for half a day under my ski hat and goggles. While comforatable with just the hat as soon as the goggles are placed over it the strap squezes the ear piece against the ear which became increadably painfull after a while. Another draw back with this is that if another person is talking and you talk/laugh or breath heavily against the boom it cuts out the other person. Which can be very anoying. It also takes a while to cut in when you talk so you have to repeat yourself or say something prior to the message you actually wan't to give. One reason this accessory would be good to have is if you needed to use your radio while both your hands were being used (like riding / Manual Labour/Climbing) as with the earbud you need to be able to press the PTT button.

Not the best choice2
I wasn't pleased with this mic's performance, it tended to give a lisping sound to my S's. At first I thought it was my post production, but after checking it out, I found it was the mic. And it pops even with a pro pop filter on. You can't talk directly into this mic and expect it to sound good. I found myself moving the mic higher up away from my mouth to avoid pops. This in turned added to the lisp and a nasal sound. I took this mic for a real run and with some practice you can get a good sound out of it but that's just it, it's more work than its worth.

Also on my laptop it would pick up all sorts of background hissing, I had to use a noise gate to fix it. There are far better USB mics out there for the money. Also there are no drivers shipped with it or software and you will NOT be able to monitor you recordings unless your recording application supports its.

If you want a good sounding mic for a fair price then try the Audio Technica AT3035 condenser microphone. Its far better and worth it for entry to mid level recording.

GREAT deal!!5
This microphone is great. The sound quality is fantastic and it is very sensitive. Make sure you have a quiet room! I sing in church and was asked to make a cd of the songs I have sung. I didn't know what I was doing but this mic made even me sound good! A good mic for a reasonable cost. Give it a try.

cheap and excellent5

Cyber Acoustics Mic-484
I use this microphone to make songs and its pretty good its about the same price as my other microphone but this one beats it by a long shot. The reason i gave it a 4 stars is because it not the best if you are looking for high quality but if you wanna save money this is a great deal. I had to order another one to get that high quality effect that i am looking for.
If you want a cheap microphone to make songs i would also recommend "Logitech Premium Stereo Headset with Noise-Canceling Microphone" and its pretty cheap only 17 bucks with shipping and handeling.

GREAT PRODUCT5
This small and simple computer mic is a great buy. It blocks out backround noises it has a clean crisp sound and t dosen't take up alot of space. a GREAT buy for anyone looking to talk over the internet or add voices to annimaion!!!

Not a GREAT Mic1
This mic was great, for the short time it worked. I only had it for about 2 weeks or so before it quit working. I was glad I had only paid about $4 for it.

Quality Headset5
This product is great. It really fits egornomically on your head and of course its adjustable. The microphone extension is also adjustable. The sound quality is excellent, sounds clear and no loss of quality. The microphone records well too and at low volumes it doesn't pick up those annoying external sounds recording very clearly. All in all this is a great deal...

Works excellent for my needs.4
I bought the headset specifically for DialPad and it works excellent for my needs. I have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster 64 and a DSL line and I call my Grandma in Montana every couple days and it sounds good and has no problems.

Used in a classroom lab setting, they fall apart easily2
Our classroom lab uses these headsets and I must say that they break easily. Within three weeks we had students returning these headsets left and right with broken microphones. The part covering the ears would snap easily and break in such a way that there is no way to repair this headset.

While I understand teenagers break things easily, and that half of the headsets that were shorted out were of the student's fault (playing music through them at high volumes), it does not excuse the fragility of this product.

surprisingly good headphones w/ mic5
I was pleasantly surprised by these headphones. I think they were cheaper when I purchased them about 6 months ago... but they were a good buy for the money. Sound quality is good and mic works fine. My only complaint is that the ear pieces do not fit particularly comfortably on my ears so after a while (> 1hr) they are less than enjoyable to wear. But for the price I paid and the amount I use them, they were a great buy.

best set of headphones5
These headphones are fantastic. I can skype my son in California and he can't hear any background noise when we talk. The headphones fit snuglly over my ears and reduce the noise from around me as well. they work great.

Great Coby Headphones!5
I have ear troubles so I can't use those headphones that you stick into your ears, thus I bought this Coby. It goes right on the ears, an the mic is adjustable - so what's so special about that right? Well, it's just so easy to use, and to set up with the computer, now I am talking to my sister and father and friends on Skype for free, rather than spending lots of money on phone cards, and it's even clearer than using the telephone with less interference!
So if you have sensitive ears like mine, Coby's a good choice for you!

From Sony

Sony offers the ECM-T6 Tie-Tac Lavaliere Microphone. The microphone includes a clip to attach to clothing. It permits convenient, hands-free recording. Small, inconspicuous design makes the recording process more natural and less obtrusive. Omni-directional pattern picks up voices from all directions. Flat design is optimized for recording business meetings and lectures. The microphone provides long battery life of approximately 100 hours continuous use with optional Sony CR2025 lithium battery. L-Shaped Mini-Plug fits portable recorders.

  • Brand: Sony
  • Model: ECMT6
  • Dimensions: 3.80" h x 1.00" w x 8.80" l, .4 pounds

The ECMT6 from Sony is a clip-on lavaliere microphone that enables hands-free recording, perfect for speeches, lectures, presentations, and more. An omni-directional mic, the ECMT6 picks up sound from all directions, ensuring that speech is easily discernable even if the placement of the mic changes during use. The mini plug is gold-plated for maximum conductivity, while its L-shape helps ensure that it doesn't come disconnected during use.

Small and unobtrusive, the ECMT6 weighs just 0.71 ounces, while the 3.3-foot long (from mic to plug) cord lets you position the mic a reasonable distance from your recording device. The ECMT6 runs off of Sony's CR2025 battery (not included), which has a life of approximately 100 hours.

A frequency response of 50 to 12,000 Hz combines with a 70dB dynamic range to capture all the important elements of speech. The microphone unhooks from the included clip to accommodate other recording methods, while the oxygen-free copper litz cord has minimal signal loss or added noise. The ECMT6 has an output impedance of 1.6 kOhms +/- 30% (unbalanced) and a maximum input level of approximately 94 dB. The ECMT6 also comes backed with a 90-day parts and labor warranty.

Be heard by everyone without holding a mic. This tie-tac lavaliere microphone clips to collar or pocket for unobtrusive hands-free amplification and recording. It picks up sound from all directions, making it perfect for business meetings and lectures.

It works!4
I use this to record chorus reharsals so I can listen to the recordings later and sing along. It works surpisingly well--and yields a sound ten times better than without a microphone at all. I just wish its cord were a little longer so I could put the cassette recorder on the floor instead of in my lap.

Sony ECM-T6 is GREAT for the price!5
Understandably, the other reviews express their disappointment in the fact that the mic does not come with a battery - so you'll be needing a CR-2032 battery along with purchasing this...

NONETHELESS: The value is unbeatable. I used the mic extensively with Griffin's iTalk & my iPod to record motivational lectures, and the sound quality was significantly improved vs. not having used a mic with the iTalk. That said, this comes with a high recommendation, if you can deal with having to buy a battery once every couple of years. Sony definitely lives up to its reputation with this product.

All I get is noise1
Unfortunately, at least for me, this mic performed poorly - had to return it. The only way to get a clear recording is to have it sit PERFECTLY STILL. If you so much as touch it or move it, you get massive interference that drowns out (in my case) the voices you're trying to record. Tried it in several orientations - clipped to my shirt, clipped in a pocket, etc. None worked. To be avoided.

good price, good product5
I am using these headphones in a language lab and they have been a good piece of equipment

Good Buy5
The sound quality is good and this headset is perfect for voice chat online.
The price dropped by $3 just 4 days after I ordered it but it's still worth how much I bought it for.

Love 'em!5
I bought these earphones 'cause I love to match- and they go very well with my Spring Green Dell laptop. The mic picks my voice up great, and the earphones provide good sound. I try to keep the volume down a little when I am in class because the guy next to me can hear if it's up too high. Other than that- works just fine!

What a great system and deal5
When I got this it was half off. I am glad I did get this. It still works with out fail. The mic looks great when you put a mic (flag, cube) on it and you still have room to hold it. A+ sony. Now the only thing from making this thing the ultimate would be a Shure sm-58 element. Still the vocals are warm and crisp..
